Is your location wrong on the RBN map?
RBN doesn't know your address. It reads the grid square on your QRZ.com page and puts your dot at the center of that square. To move the dot, fix the grid square on QRZ.com, and RBN picks up the change by itself.
Where does the map put you?
- A few kilometers (a mile or two) from your station
- That's expected. The center of your square can be up to 2.3 km (1.4 mi) north or south of your station and up to 4.6 km (2.9 mi) east or west. If the grid square on your QRZ.com page is right, there's nothing to fix: RBN can't place you more precisely than one square.
- Outside your grid square, maybe in another town, state, or country
- The grid square on your QRZ.com page is wrong or out of date, often left over from an old address. Change it on QRZ.com. A square can straddle a town or state line, so a dot just across one is still the first case.
- At the center of your state, call area, or country
- RBN has no grid square for you, so it uses a default position for your callsign. You'll also see an empty grid column next to your call in the spots table. Add your location on QRZ.com. No QRZ.com page yet? Register for a free account and claim your callsign first. Operating under another country's prefix, such as EA8/K1ABC? Then RBN places you by that prefix, and QRZ.com can't change it.
Change your grid square on QRZ.com
- Sign in at qrz.com, click your callsign at the top right, and choose Edit for your callsign.
- Open map, grid square and coordinate settings.
- Drag the pin onto your station, or enter your grid square, then click Save.
- Check the grid square shown on your QRZ.com page. It's the only location RBN reads, so make sure it's the square you expect.
After you save
RBN copies your new grid square the next time a skimmer spots you, usually within a day or two. Reload the RBN page to see the dot move. You don't need to write to us.

Running a skimmer?
Spotter locations (the red dots) come from the grid square set in your skimmer software, not from QRZ.com, so correct it there. If your skimmer uses the callsign you operate with and it is also among the spotters on screen, your blue dot uses the skimmer's location too.
